In this project I took inspiration from Billy Eliot and his relationship with his father.
As children we always try to find our own path in life, while we are affected by our parents and what they wish for us. Billy was able to find his own path in life and to get his fathers' acceptance.
It reminded me of my own father and grandfathers' relationship and it inspired me to
do this project. My design aims to capture the delicate and sometimes suffocating nature of our relationships with our parents. Inspired by both ballet and tailored visuals from the movie, I created a wrapped tailored suit, incorporating stockings that I disassembled and reassembled as a pattern.
